Auditions for BBC One's new singing series Pitch Battle have been opened.
Applications for the upcoming Saturday night series have kicked off as it's revealed that Deke Sharon, Music Director and Arranger for the box-office hit Pitch Perfect, has joined the show as Series Musical Director.
Show bosses are now looking for the best singing groups from across the UK, from all musical styles: pop, rock, folk and gospel to acapella choirs.
Over the course of five hour-long, heat episodes, the groups will compete head-to-head over a series of choral challenges including Pitch Perfect inspired Riff Offs, a soloist’s challenge and an acapella round. The groups will need to pull out-all-the-stops in this no-chords-barred, sing or be sung-off tournament to win the live final.
Deke Sharon added: “I’m so excited to come to the UK to see the breadth of musical talent, and to provide the launching pad for what could be the world’s next megastar harmony group! If you love music, you love to sing and you are in a group or want to form one, come along - we can’t wait to see you perform!”
Karen Smith, CEO of programme makers Tuesday’s Child said: “This is a contemporary new format and we are looking for spell-binding, hairs-on-the-back-of-your-neck performances. We know they are out there – so get in touch!
"To have someone of Deke’s calibre advising on musical arrangements throughout the series is a once in a lifetime opportunity for ambitious groups around the country!”
