The Britain's Got Talent 2017 judges were left spooked by a troupe of creepy clowns at auditions this week.

What turned out to be a dance group dressed in clown outfits storm the stage - and the audience - during their try out in front of the panel.

And according to The Sun on Sunday newspaper, the performance left Simon Cowell particularly "rattled".

A source told the tabloid: “These were not funny clowns, they were sinister. People in the audience were shook up, but not as much as Simon.

“He looked horrified when one female clown touched his face. He later admitted a phobia of clowns.”

Simon has previously spoken out about his fear of such performers, admitting: "I didn’t like them when I was a kid. They’re creepy.”

Try outs for the new series of Britain's Got Talent are currently ongoing across the UK with Simon joined once again by Alesha Dixon, David Walliams and Amanda Holden.

They're back alongside hosts Ant and Dec for the 11th series and already it seems as though some epic performances have proved a hit with the panel.

As well as creepy clowns, the BGT judges have seen singing robots, an angry act that stormed off stage and a touching performance from The Missing People Choir.

Meanwhile if you want to audition there is STILL TIME (as we write this!), visit the BGT application website HERE on how to try out. Britain's Got Talent 2017 auditions will close on the 10th February 2017 at 23:59 GMT

Britain's Got Talent 2017 will air on ITV later this year with the exact launch date expected in April.
