Let It Shine's Martin Kemp has defended the show from claims it's 'too nice'.
Some viewers have branded the new BBC One series 'boring' and viewing figures have dropped almost 2 million since launch night.
While 6.3 million tuned into the first episode, 4.6 million watched last night's latest episode as the final auditions were held.
Martin, who is on the show with Gary Barlow and Dannii Minogue, said: “It’s brilliant working with Gary. He’s a really lovely guy. And that’s what makes working on the show so nice.
“When you do any show you’re working with people who have been put together by different producers. They don’t know if there’s going to be chemistry. But we’re lucky enough that we’ve sat down and there is chemistry and that’s a bonus.”
And speaking to the Daily Star on Sunday newspaper, Martin added: “I think the show is what you make of it. It’s a nice, warm Saturday night show that’s really exciting.”
While viewing numbers may have dipped, the show is still one of the most watched on Saturday nights.
He told the Daily Star: “I’ve seen Let It Shine and I thought it was good. Gary is a friend of mine. It’s a good show.
"It’s nice to have something strong on the other channel. It’s a good thing. I don’t mind if Let It Shine is doing well so long as people are watching us as well."
The Voice UK, which airs on ITV against Let It Shine, had 5.6 million viewers last night.
Both shows continue next Saturday night on ITV.
