Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards won't return to help host or commentate on The Jump 2017, it has been revealed.

The Olympic ski jumper - who recently had his story turned into a film - has been appearing on the Channel 4 series since 2014.

However The Sun reports that Eddie won't be a part of this year's fourth series.

Channel 4 say the move is an "editorial decision" but sources have accused the channel of not liking Eddie speaking up about safety concerns.

“Producers didn’t like what he was saying about the show as it came in for a lot of stick," one insider alleged. “They are really sensitive because of the amount of people who have broken their legs or been seriously hurt.

“It would be hard for Eddie to appear on the show after his comments because he would have to explain them and there is a high chance someone else will get injured.”

Last year Eddie expressed his shock when a fourth series of the show was confirmed for 2017.

He said: "I kept on telling the producers, ‘It’s going to get very difficult, very hairy’ and they said, ‘No it’s all right’ and they’ve carried on and they’ve had so many accidents.

“I was very surprised they’re going to have another series.”

The Jump 2017 will start on Channel 4 on Sunday February 5, hosted by Davina McCall.
