Former Strike It Lucky presenter Michael Barrymore has been confirmed as a celebrity tourist for the upcoming second series of Channel 4 reality TV programme Coach Trip. The openly gay TV personality will be joined by a celebrity friend and 6 other couples.
Following the massive success of the first celebrity series which aired last year pulling in more than 2 million viewers every night, Channel 4 have commissioned two more series of the celebrity version, both of which will air this summer along with two more series of the ordinary versions with Series 7 set to air in Autumn followed by Series 8 in 2012.
Head of Channel 4's daytime segment, Helen Warner said of the upcoming series: ''I'm so proud of the success of the Coach Trip format and I can't wait for the return of Brendan and his band of celebrity and non-celebrity Coach Trippers.''
According to the Daily Star, other celebrities set to join Michael on the coach were Big Brother 3 housemate Spencer Smith and his friend and Michael's fellow Celebrity Big Brother housemate Jodie Marsh however after finding out who would be joining her on the trip, Jodie pulled out unable to cope with spending time with Barrymore.
The new series which starts filming tomorrow from Nice, France will see 7 celebrity couples instead of the 5 from Series 1 as well as an increase in duration as tourists travel around for 15 days, 5 days more than Series 1.
