Hugo Taylor first to be injured on new Channel 5 cycling show Tour De Celeb

Former Made In Chelsea cast member Hugo Taylor has injured himself while taking part in Channel 5's Tour De Celeb.

The show features a group of famous faces as they compete in L'Etape du Tour, a 146km stretch of brutal endurance cycling through the French Alps which is described as the toughest challenge in the world of amateur cycling.

And it seems that challenge may be a bit too tough for certain contestants, as The Sun reports that Hugo has suffered an injury.

Doctors were called in to examine the ex-I'm A Celebrity star yesterday, and he was forced to pull out of a press event to promote the new series.

Insiders reckon Hugo may have been over-vigorous in training, and are hoping his injury isn't too serious.

"They’re all keen to get off to a good start but Hugo overdid it. He’s frustrated but hopes to be back in the saddle soon," a source said.

The incident has already been compared to Channel 4's extreme winter sports contest The Jump, which lost several of its celebs to injuries earlier this year.

"After the uproar surrounding The Jump, producers will be hoping this is the first and last of the injuries," added the mole. "With just eight people taking part they can’t afford to lose any more."

Hugo is joined in the Tour De Celeb line-up by Louie Spence, Angellica Bell and Jodie Kidd and Lucy Mecklenburgh - as well as professional sports stars Austin Healey, Darren Gough and Amy Williams.

Tour De Celeb is due to air on Channel 5 later this year.
