Drive to be axed by ITV after the one series of poor viewing figures?

ITV drive celebrity line up

ITV's latest reality show Drive is set to be axed after just the one series.

The show began last month on ITV on Tuesday nights and saw celebrities competing in rounds of motor races.

The line up had quite a few big names including comic Johnny Vegas and former X Factor judge Louis Walsh, while rapper Professor Green was crowned the winner in last night's final.

However the series regularly struggled to break even 2 million viewers, with The Sun newspaper suggesting that host Vernon Kay's latest tabloid headlines could be to blame.

An insider told the newspaper: “Viewing figures have been appalling and Vernon hasn’t done any favours for the show following his sex text shame.

“Unsurprisingly, ITV aren’t bringing it back for a second run.”

A spokesperson for ITV however has claimed that no decision has been made about the show yet.

"Any suggestion that Drive won't be returning for a second series is pure speculation and we will make a decision in due course," they said this morning.
