Vernon Kay doesn't think Louis Walsh is cut out for new ITV gameshow Drive

ITV Drive 2016 - Louis Walsh

ITV's Drive is car-crash television (literally) for former X Factor judge Louis Walsh, if Vernon Kay's latest comments are anything to go by.

The new motorsport gameshow is Louis's first major TV gig since he left the talent contest last year after eleven series.

However, Drive presenter Vernon isn't convinced it was a brilliant idea for him to take part.

Speaking to TVRage, Vernon teased: "Louis is hilarious. I won't spoil it, but let's just say I don't think this is the right show for him!"

In a preview clip released earlier this week, we saw Louis - who is reportedly in 'final talks' to return to The X Factor - shout "Get me out of here!" as he got his face covered in mud.

But while the music manager may not have been cut out for the show, Vernon has admitted that he wished he'd signed up to be a contestant rather than the host.

"It looked like the most fun ever, and I'd love to have a go," he said. "I'm very competitive though, so I'd have to win.

"This is dramatic but nobody gets hurt, it's just a lot of fun, it really is. It's the most adrenalin-filled show on your telly."

Drive sees eight celebrities compete against each other in a series of motorsports under the guidance of British Touring Car driver Jason Plato, with the first episode pitting them head-to-head in banger races.

Louis's rivals include rapper Professor Green, singer Ella Eyre, weathergirl Laura Tobin and writer Mariella Frostrup.

Drive crashes on to our screens on Tuesday at 9.00pm on ITV.
