Double bad news for Simon Cowell this week. Not only is The X Factor USA struggling to get anywhere near his much publicised goal of 20 million viewers, but the original UK show is also taking a hit, dipping to 9.8 million viewers last night, leaving a gap of less than a million between it and Strictly Come Dancing on BBC One.
It was close to 2 million viewers down on last year's 11.5 million average, and even some one million down on the 10.9 million who tuned in back in 2009.
The figure was only just above the 9.5 million who tuned in way back in 2008, when the performance and results shows were still on the same night.
It's news sure to worry show bosses, as rival show Strictly Come Dancing posted one of its best figures in years.
