The Great British Bake Off was the most watched show on TV last night (Tuesday, September 4).

The Channel 4 show beat BBC One and ITV to top the night’s viewing figures.

The latest episode of Bake Off averaged 5.7 million viewers between 8PM and 9:15PM.

It was down 400,000 viewers on last week’s opening episode, but that’s a smaller drop-off than last year’s series saw.

Great British Bake Off’s cake week bettered the soaps, with 5.3 million watching EastEnders and Emmerdale.

BBC One’s new drama Wanderlust began with 2.9 million viewers in the 9PM hour, eclipsing the 2.1 million who watched Long Lost Family on ITV.

On Channel 5, Celebrity Big Brother continued with 1.6 million viewers, down slightly (100,000) on Monday’s live show but up week-on-week.
