Love Island 2018’s viewing figures dropped to 2.3 million viewers for last night’s episode.

Friday’s show saw the first recoupling of the series as Samira received a text: “Islanders, tonight there will be a recoupling.

“The boys will choose and the girl not picked to be in a couple will be dumped from the island. #getpickedorgetpacking #layitonthick ”

Following the first Love Island recoupling, it was Kendall Rae-Knight who was sent home after being left single.

An average audience of 2.3 million viewers watched the episode, 100,000 below Thursday’s figure and 600,000 down on Monday’s launch.

However, it was still enough for ITV2 to beat both BBC One and ITV in the 9PM hour.

1.8 million watched Lethal Weapon on ITV’s main channel while Would I Lie To You and Tracey Breaks The News averaged 2.1 million and 1.5 million respectively for BBC One.

It was the soaps that easily topped Friday night’s viewing figures. Coronation street had 5.9 million and 6 million for its two instalments on ITV, down around a million viewers on last week’s special episodes.

Emmerdale had 5.3 million viewers while EastEnders held 4.3 million for BBC One.

In the late night slot, The Graham Norton Show had an impressive 3.2 million viewers, the second most watched TV show of the day on BBC One.

Elsewhere, a new celebrity series of The Crystal Maze launched to just over a million viewers on Channel 4.

And on Channel 5, just under 2 million watched the start of series 4 of Cruising with Jane McDonald.
