Coronation Street was the most watched show on TV last night (May 14).
The latest instalment of the ITV soap saw the continuation of Shayne Ward's exit as Aidan Connor.
Shayne left the ITV soap last week after three years on the cobbles in a heartbreaking departure, with Aidan taking his own life in a suicide storyline.
6.6 million and 6.4 million viewers watched the two shows last night, both up on last Monday's figures of 6 million.
In other soap ratings last night, Emmerdale had 5.4 million viewers (up 400,000 on last week) for its latest instalment while EastEnders continued with 5 million (up 500,000).
Elsewhere on ITV, Karen Brady's new business show Give it a Year continued with 2.4 million while 5.3 million watched the first instalment of new drama innocent.
Innocent is a new four-part series written by acclaimed writers Chris Lang and Matt Arlidge starring Hermione Norris and Lee Ingleby. The show continues tonight, Wednesday and Thursday at 9PM.
Opposite on BBC One at 9PM, repeats of Peter Kay's Car Share and Mrs Brown's Boys averaged 2.7 million and 2 million viewers respectively.
The BBC is airing Car Share's second series again ahead of a last ever episode later this month (May 28), revealing just what happens next to John and Kayleigh. Car Share viewers were left in dismay at the end of the second series last year, prompting petitions which gathered over 100,000 signatures for one final show. Last week an Unscripted special interested 4.4 million viewers at 10PM.
Away from the two main shows, Family Guy proved popular on ITV2 with 600,000 viewers while Plebs continued with 400,000 viewers.
Made In Chelsea's latest episode averaged 500,000 for E4.
