The latest instalment of the ITV soap saw the emotional final scenes of Shayne Ward's character Aidan Connor on Coronation Street.
Shayne exits the ITV soap this week after three years on the cobbles.
And it was a heartbreaking departure, with Aidan taking his own life in a suicide storyline.
Shayne's final scenes as Aidan aired last night to 6 million viewers for both episodes on the Bank Holiday Monday.
The plot will continue throughout the week, following how his family and friends come to terms with the shock and loss of Aidan.
In other soap ratings last night, Emmerdale had 5 million viewers for its latest instalment while EastEnders continued with 4.5 million.
At 9PM, Who Wants to be a Millionaire was back with 3.9 million viewers. This is down 1.2 million on Saturday's premiere following Britain's Got Talent but up 100,000 on Sunday's show.
Jeremy Clarkson is the unlikely new host of a special week of brand new episodes, which continue at 9PM this evening on ITV.
Opposite on BBC One at 9PM, The Woman in White finished its run with a series low of 2.7 million.
Peter Kay's Car Share followed with an Unscripted special, interesting 4.4 million viewers at 10PM. The one-off will be followed by one final episode to be broadcast later this month (on May 28), revealing just what happens next to John and Kayleigh.
Car Share viewers were left in dismay at the end of the second series when Kayleigh stepped out of John’s car and his life forever.
Fans even set up online petition demanding a conclusion to the series which gathered over 100,000 signatures.
