Series 10 of ITV comedy Benidorm continued with just over 3 million viewers last night.
The new series of Benidorm sees legendary comedy duo Hale & Pace join the cast as undercover detectives investigating Tim Healy’s character Les/Lesley, who returns to the series full time.
The nine-episode series also sees Shane Richie back, reprising his role as lively entertainer Sammy Valentino and John Challis becomes a series regular with his character Monty Staines.
The penultimate instalment last night (Wednesday, April 25) was watched by 3.2 million viewers on ITV. The episode saw a slight decrease of 100,000 viewers on last week’s episode.
Benidorm lost out to BBC One in the 9PM slot, with new doc Britain’s Fat Fight with Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall averaging 3.7 million.
Earlier, 3.2 million caught Watchdog and 2.5 million were watching The One Show.
It was the soaps that topped the night’s ratings: Coronation Street pulled in 6.7 million viewers for its first episode of the night while 6 million returned for the second instalment.
5.8 million watched Emmerdale while elsewhere on ITV, Anne Hegerty’s game show Britain’s Brightest Family continued with 3.4 million.
Elsewhere, on Channel 4, The Secret Life of the Zoo continued its new series with 1.4 million viewers.
One Born Every Minute and First Dates both followed with over a million viewers.
On BBC Two, American Crime Story’s The Assassination of Gianni Versace continued with 900,000 viewers.
