Series 2 of Marcella launched to just under 4 million viewers on ITV last night.
Written by Hans Rosenfeld and starring Anna Friel, Marcella returned to ITV last night for a brand new eight-part series.
3.7 million watched the opening episode in the 9PM hour.
Marcella clashed with new BBC Two drama Collateral which continued with its second episode after launching last week.
Set over the course of four days, four-part series Collateral explores the spiralling repercussions surrounding the fatal shooting of a pizza delivery man. Refusing to accept this is a random act of senseless violence, tough and single-minded Detective Inspector Kip Glaspie (played by Carey Mulligan) is determined to discover if there is a darker truth.
The opening episode averaged 3.2 million last Monday but figures dropped to 2.5 million for yesterday evening’s episode.
It was the soaps that topped the night, with Coronation Street averaging 7.3 million and 6.4 million for its two episodes. Emmerdale had 6.5 million.
On BBC One, the football (Wigan v Manchester City) had 4.2 million viewers in prime time.
On Channel 4, 24 Hours In Police Custody’s new series launched with a record 2.4 million viewers.
Over on ITV2, Survival of the Fittest entered its second week with viewing figures on the up. 450,000 tuned in to last night’s (19 February) episode, up on last Monday’s show.
On E4, Celebs Go Dating continued just ahead of its reality rival with 500,000 viewers.
