RATINGS! Michael McIntyre tops Christmas Eve viewing figures

Michael McIntyre's Big Christmas Show was the most watched programme on Christmas Eve, according to overnight ratings.

The special episode was watched by 5.7 million viewers, up 100,000 on last year.

BBC One came out on top with EastEnders scoring 5.2 million before Michael McIntyre while Mary Berry, Mel and Sue's return interested 3.6 million.

The channel secured four of the top five programmes on the night, with Not Going Out's Christmas special securing an audience of 4.7 million at 9:30PM.

Over on ITV, A Christmas Celebrity special of The Chase had 3.3 million viewers. New show All Star Musicals interested 3.5 million - the most watched of the night for the channel - before Maigret in Montmartre scored 3.4 million.

Elsewhere, a showing of The Great Gatsby on BBC Two had just under a million viewers while 2.2 million watched Channel 4's Gogglebox highlights of 2017.
