Blue Planet 2 has become the most watched TV show of 2017 so far.

A huge audience of more than 14 million viewers watched the opening episode, including those who watched on catch up in the seven days after.

Alongside Blue Planet, Strictly Come Dancing has being putting in massive numbers with an average of 12.3 million watching the Halloween special, making it the third most watched show of 2017.

I'm A Celebrity ranks in second place with 12.7 million viewers for its launch last month.

The three programmes overtake the One Love Manchester concert, which had been the year's most watched show since June.

One Love Manchester was held on Sunday 4 June at Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Ground to honour and raise vital funds for the victims and families who were tragically affected by the Manchester attack at an Ariana Grande concert in May.

The special music show featured performances by Ariana herself alongside Justin Bieber, Coldplay, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Pharrell Williams, Take That and Niall Horan, with added acts including Little Mix, Robbie Williams and Black Eyed Peas.

TV coverage of the event saw an average audience of 10.9 million viewers on the night, rising to 11.63 million with catch up figures.

The show was a smidgen ahead of ITV Broadchurch's final which had 11.61 million viewers in April.

Britain's Got Talent is next in the rankings with a top audience of 11.51 million for its latest series which concluded at the start of summer.
