The official list of most watched TV shows of 2016 has been confirmed.

And there is a very clear winner, as BBC One dominated the top 10 with 7 shows.

The final ever episode of the Great British Bake Off takes the top spot with a total audience of 15.9 million viewers.

Bake Off was over 2 million viewers clear of its nearest rival, Strictly Come Dancing, which had a top audience of 13.3 million viewers.

And a third BBC series rounds off the top three with Planet Earth enjoying 13.1 million viewers.

ITV's highest rated show, I'm A Celebrity Get me Out Of Here, was in fourth place with BGT just behind at 12.5 million viewers.

EastEnders is the only soap to feature in the top ten, alongside dramas Happy Valley, Sherlock and Call The Midwife.

The X Factor also makes an appearance thanks to a big rating for its second audition episode, although it couldn't quite hold those numbers for the rest of the series.
