Here’s a look at last night’s primetime ratings from Sunday, May 20.


BBC One won the night with Antiques Roadshow, which pulled in a smidgen over 5 million viewers.

Before, Countryfile managed 4.8 million, up 200,000 on last Sunday night’s figure.

In the 9PM hour, the BBC launched new drama A Very English Scandal. Starring Hugh Grant as Jeremy Thorpe and Ben Whishaw as Norman Scott, A Very English Scandal is the shocking true story of the first British politician to stand trial for conspiracy and incitement to murder.

The three part drama kicked off with 4.6 million viewers, winning its slot. The series continues next Sunday.

Over on ITV, Midsomer Murders’ latest episode pulled in 3.8 million viewers between 8PM and 10PM, down 900,000 on last Sunday’s episode.

Earlier, Little Big Shots continued with 2.2 million viewers, rising 100,000 viewers on last week’s numbers.

Over on Channel 4, Season 2 of The Handmaid’s Tale began with 1.3 million viewers at 9PM. It followed Bake Off’s The Professionals spin-off which had just under 2 million viewers at 8PM.
