New X Factor judge Gary Barlow has claimed that the younger contestants are the most exciting on the show. Speaking on the red carpet at this week's X Factor premiere screening, Gary suggested that the youngsters had ‘moulded themselves’ into the best artist of the show.
“The 16 and 17 year olds are for me the most exciting as they’ve grown up watching the show," he said outside London's O2 Arena. "It’s almost like they’ve made themselves into the best artist for the show. It’s incredible, you can’t believe they’re 16 or 17.”
Talking to the Daily Mirror yesterday, Gary continued: "I think it’s really interesting this year that the most promising of all the talent is the 16 and 17-year-olds.
"I think they are the best, the most exciting and the true future of this show and this format.
"I look at the people we’ve got here today and I think we’ve got some really fantastic talent."
Last night The X Factor judges were wowed by 16-year-old Janet Devlin on the show, with Gary telling the Irish teenager: "When we’re looking for these artists, we’re trying to find someone who will eventually sell records, sell albums around the world. Not just in the UK but everywhere. You are one of those people. That was such a fantastic audition.”
Other acts who impressed on last night's show included 19-year-old Frankie Cocozza.
Gary told him: “I really enjoyed every bit of it. The stage presence, the Rod Stewart vocals, I think people are going to love you. Well done."
