X Factor's Gary Barlow jokes "Is it too late to resign?" on tonight's first audition show after a string of bad acts appear on stage. The Take That also gets annoyed with his fellow panellists Louis Walsh and Tulisa Contostavlos as they say yes to poor singers.
Before the first audition show kicks off, Gary says: "I am so excited to be a judge on X Factor. Not as excited as my mum – it’s like it’s the first thing I’ve ever done in my career.
"I’ve been here for 20 years – I’ve been up, I’ve been down, I’ve performed in front of millions of people all over the world, so I’m bringing a ton of experience. And I’m willing to share it with all of these people. I’m here to find a superstar."
And he warned: "I’m going to be brutal. I think people’s perception of me is about to change. "
But it's not a great start to the auditions this year as Gary is left unimpressed with one act after another.
"The reason people are up on their feet… It’s not because you’re good," he tells one auditionee.
After the next awful performance, the man band star quips: "I shut my eyes, I wouldn’t have known if that was a human being or an animal being strangled."
Kelly Rowland reveals on the show: "I think with Gary it’s either black or white – it’s either good or great."
As the next wannabe singer steps out on stage, will Gary be left regretting his decision to join the show?
The X Factor 2011 starts tonight on ITV1 at 8PM.
