Olly Murs may have been joking about being fired from The Xtra Factor this morning, but it seems as though other telly presenters are secretly hoping Simon does give him the boot! Speaking to The Sun's buzz magazine this weekend, Jeff Brazier said he'd have no qualms about replacing Olly.
T4 host Matt Edmondson and Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh were reportedly set to take over from the series, until they were ditched at the last minute – apparently because of Cheryl’s X Factor USA axe causing her Girls Aloud pal Kimberley step down in support.
In the end it was X Factor 2009 runner-up Olly and I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here Now! host Caroline Flack who were controversially named the hosts of the show – just a day before auditions started filming in Birmingham last month.
Chatting ahead of the launch of The X Factor next weekend, Jeff claims he’s not jealous about Olly Murs landing the Xtra Factor co-host role, “Olly’s a mate of mine and I want him to do well.”
However he added: “But I wouldn’t say no to replacing him later on if the producers asked me.”
Jeff previously insisted he wasn't disappointed about being snubbed for a role on the ITV2 reality spin-off, saying: “I knew a few weeks before the decision was made that I was out of the running.
“But I’m not disappointed. Caroline’s a wonderful presenter and Olly is my friend so I could never begrudge him.”
The Xtra Factor starts on August 20 at 9:15PM on ITV2.
