Rebecca Ferguson has turned to shopping to help her move on from her split from One Direction's Zayn Malik, after the couple separated earlier this month. The pair got together on The X Factor live tour back in March, with Rebecca proclaiming to be 'genuinely in love' with the 18-year-old.
But 24-year-old mum-of-two Rebecca's relationship with Zayn caused upset with One Direction's fans.
Despite claims that One Direction had been told to dump their girl friends – with Liam Payne getting rid of long-term girlfriend Hannah Walker last month – Zayn yesterday made it clear it was his and Rebecca’s decision.
He explained: “I got told at the beginning of my career it’s quite hard to hold on to a relationship and realised halfway through the relationship that it was hard.
“We both mutually decided.
“Am I sad? We’re just getting on with it and doing our own thing. We’re still friends though. The band are there to help me through it. We’re five mates. We talk about everything.”
Rebecca meanwhile was spotted indulging in some retail therapy to avoid upset, a source who spotted the singer in Liverpool earlier this week claims.
They said: “She was spotted going on a massive spender at Cavern Walks. First of all she drowned her sorrows with buckets of coffee in Lucy in the Sky cafe before hitting the rails in Cricket for some designer retail therapy.”
Rebecca's album is out in November. Zayn and the rest of One Direction release their debut single 'What Makes You Beautiful' next month.
