A lot have been asking 'When does The X Factor 2011 start?' and here's the answer: JUST 11 DAYS AWAY! The X Factor will kick off for an eight series on Saturday August 20, it has been confirmed this evening. The show will start at 8PM, with ITV promising twist and turns from the word go!
The first show will air from 8PM-9:15PM, with the first ever Xtra Factor show starting on ITV2 straight after with new hosts Olly Murs and Caroline Flack.
And this year we'll be seeing three new judges, being dubbed 'The Next Generation' by show bosses.
First up is Gary Barlow, one of Britain’s most successful singer songwriters and a member of one of the biggest pop groups of all time, Take That. Gary has amassed twelve UK No. 1 hits and is a five times recipient of the Ivor Novello award for songwriting.
Tulisa Contostavlos, the lead singer of one of the most successful urban British hip hop group, N-Dubz, is next. Tulisa has had eight top 40 hits, a sell-out tour, album sales of over 1.2 million and has won four MOBO awards.
Kelly Rowland adds a bit of US spice to the panel. As a founder member of one of the most successful girl groups of all time, Destiny’s Child, who sold over 60 million records; Kelly has won a Grammy award as a solo artist and established herself as a global star.
And then there's Louis Walsh. You all know what he’s like!
ITV’s Director of Television, Peter Fincham, said: “As multi-million selling artists, songwriters and pop masterminds, Gary, Tulisa, Kelly and Louis have huge breadth of appeal with our audience and the ability to engage both the UK’s next generation of music talent as well as ITV’s viewers.”
X Factor boss Simon Cowell added: "These four are totally up for it, each of them bring a different attitude. They have had a ton of hits between them and they are all committed to finding a star."
The X Factor 2011 kicks off with auditions from around the country, this year visiting Birmingham, Glasgow, Manchester, Cardiff, London and - for the first time - Liverpool.
