Simon Cowell has said he admires Nicole Scherzinger’s selfish attitude after she replaced Cheryl Cole on The X Factor USA. Speaking ahead of the launch of the first American series next month, Simon added that Nicole was "ruthless" but there was nothing wrong with her ambition.
Nicole said at the press event in America last Friday: “It takes a certain breed to survive in this business. You have to be a fighter – nobody else is going to do it for you.”
Nicole went on to boast, in a less than subtle dig at Cheryl, “Simon can’t get rid of me.
“I love our big dysfunctional family.”
Heaping praise on the 'Wet' singer, Simon told her: “I think you’ve proven that there’s nothing wrong with being selfish.
“You are somebody I’ve admired, who has ruthlessly succeeded in their career even when you left the Pussycat girls behind.
“And there’s nothing wrong with that because it’s about ambition.”
The X Factor USA launches on September 21 on FOX. It'll air here in the UK on ITV2 shortly after.
