Dannii Minogue has revealed in rather intricate detail just why she quit The X Factor earlier this year, explaining how the dates of the auditions clashed with Australia's Got Talent such that, with her new baby Ethan, there was no chance of being able to return to the hit reality series.
In an interview with Perez Hilton, Dannii explains: "Every year I’ve done Australia’s Got Talent, the dates in Australia have been different. It’s never been on at the same time of year.
"In the UK, programming seems to be very rigid, like when you go to X Factor you know it’s going to be on ITV, it’s going to be on a Saturday night. Whereas in Australia you could have a top entertainment show, this year it’s on a Saturday night, next year it’s on a Wednesday night or a Tuesday night.
"Before I locked into Australia's Got Talent, I was asking “what’s happening with The X Factor?” and they really didn’t know what was happening with the dates.
"I assume that’s a lot to do with X Factor starting in America and probably Simon [Cowell] didn’t know what he was going to do or where he was going to be, because he can’t be in two places at once."
Dannii continued: "By the time the dates got locked down, the only way I could have done it would have been to work one day a week here on Australia’s Got Talent, fly back to England for ten weeks in a row back and forth, back and forth.
"When you one day have a baby you will understand that is never going to happen!"
Dannii added: "The most important thing in my life is my baby and my family and you can’t just run away."
However the star had nothing but praise for the show, saying: "TV is incredible, I love it and I’m so lucky to have been able to do the things that I can do but when you put that in front of your family then you’re only going to lose in the end."
