Olly Murs has revealed that former X Factor judges Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell were a pair of divgas on the set of the show, refusing to let the cast and crew close to them! Speaking to heatworld about the new series of The Xtra Factor, Olly promised this year's show would be more intimate than ever.
The former X Factor runner up takes over the hosting duties of the ITV2 spin-off show this year alongside Caroline Flack, following Konnie Huq's abysmal attempt at presenting last year.
In a way, we understand why Simon and Cheryl didn't want to be a part of it.
Olly told the website: “I keep in contact with all the judges. The behind-the-scenes of the Xtra Factor have got more close to the judges this year, we are getting more intimate than ever.”
He added: “Simon and Cheryl weren’t really up for letting them get close whereas this year we are getting to know Kelly [Rowland] and Gary [Barlow] really well.”
The singer previously said he was hoping to make sure the spin-off would be a success this year, following a dip in ratings last series.
"Caroline and I can bring a more personal touch and get to know the contestants really well like Dermot does," he said. "We are also going to be like their mates. I hope my experience of the show will rub off on the contestants and we’ll get the best out of them."
The Xtra Factor returns to ITV2 later this month.
