Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell have reportedly made up and are now friends again follow all the drama over her role on The X Factor in the UK and US. According to The Mirror, Simon phoned Cheryl to explain his actions after she was axed from the US show in May.
Simon Cowell revealed yesterday he was probably wrong to force Cheryl off of the show. He said: "I worked with her for years in the UK and she was sensational!
"We shot a couple of days [in the US], and I just had a feeling — and I was probably wrong – and I think she would disagree with this. And I thought she would be more comfortable on the U.K. show, and we spoke to her."
Cheryl had initially agreed to return to the UK version of the show, but when news of her axe from the US version leaked to the press, the deal collapsed with Cheryl snubbing calls from Simon! In the end an almost entirely new panel consisting of Kelly Rowland, Tulisa Contostavlos and Gary Barlow was announced.
Cheryl and Simon haven't been on contact since, until last week that is, when he apparently sent her a text message to break the ice.
He reportedly asked her: “Friends again? X.”
Cheryl's reply was equally brief and cheeky, saying: “You’ve got a nerve!… x.”
The pair then phoned one another where Simon apologised and tried to explain his actions, before asking if they could be friends gain after two months of silence.
A source told the tabloid this morning: "Cheryl was thoroughly hurt and embarrassed by the whole US debacle. But she’s done a lot of thinking over the past few weeks, and has moved on.
"She texted Simon back with a message poking fun at his treatment of her. Simon was delighted. He called her shortly afterwards and pleaded for them to be pals again.”
What a lovely story to start the day!
