X Factor staff 'spark outrage' after referring to one auditionee as 'Pam The Tranny'

X Factor 2011

Two members of The X Factor's production crew found themselves disciplined after referring to one auditionee as 'Pam The Tranny' on internal documents - before accidently sending the details to the hopeful. 46-year-old Pam complained to show chiefs about the email, which was sent by two junior researchers.

According to The Sun, Pamela-Michelle Giovanni threatened to expose the email - which also saw the staff criticise her song choices - in front of the show's judges before her audition.

"Pam got through four rounds and was well liked - but she had a meltdown when she saw the email," source revealed to the newspaper. "It wasn't sent maliciously and the researchers have been distraught at the upset they have caused. They were disciplined but will keep their jobs because of their genuine remorse.

"The producers had to go a long way to appease Pam though, and she was given a full apology.

"The real problems came when she threatened to blab about the email when she got in front of the judges. She won't talk about what happened because of the confidentiality agreement all performers have to sign if they wish to take part in the show."

A spokesperson for The X Factor confirmed: "This matter was dealt with swiftly at the time and the contestant was given a full apology for any offence that may have been caused."

Earlier this year the show's researchers were also in the press after approaching 'good looking' people and insisting they audition for the show. One of the people approached said previously: "I was out with friends last week when a blonde came up and asked if I could sing. I said ‘No’ and she said, ‘Well, you look the part. It doesn’t matter if you can’t sing.’"

He added: "She kept saying I looked the part and it didn’t matter if I couldn’t sing. It was crazy! She was with me for quite some time considering I wasn’t interested at all."
