New X Factor judge Kelly Rowland has insisted that there's no rivalry between and her Tulisa Contostavlos, describing the N-Dubz star as "very cool". Speaking behind the scenes at this year's final auditions in Liverpool last week, Kelly said the pair will continue to ignore the reports.
The duo had apparently come to blows during the auditions over competition for the prime spot on the panel. A source told Closer previously: “Tulisa’s cast herself as the new Cheryl and even boasted: ‘People want someone to step into Cheryl’s shoes’.
“Kelly’s really unhappy because she was brought in on the promise this would boost her career.”
Tulisa has also reportedly been spending time talking to the show's production team to ensure she is given a good edit when the ITV1 reality series returns next month. The source added: "Kelly finally flipped in Liverpool when she heard all about it."
Kelly however insisted last week: "Tulisa's very cool. We got the chance to just chill and talk and just be girls, you know what I mean?
"People want [rivalries] to happen and so it's going to happen, but we'll continue to talk and laugh about everything at the side of the stage and be friends."
Tulisa also tried to play down any rivalry between the pair, saying earlier this month: “Me and Kelly knew they’d try and make a rivalry between us from the beginning and we talked very openly about it. Now it’s more of a joke.”
However despite the pair's comments, Kelly and her team are said to be annoyed with the N-Dubz star after X Factor bosses granted Tulisa a bigger clothing budget for the show. The hip hop singer was reportedly given £70,000, in a bid to overcome her ‘chav style’, while Kelly was given £40,000.
A source said: “Even though they’re having a laugh about it to each other’s faces, behind closed doors there’s a proper style war going on.”
