New Xtra Factor host Olly Murs has vowed to make the show a success, following on from Konnie Huq's disastrous stint as presenter last summer. The former X Factor runner up is joined by Caroline Flack on the ITV2 spin-off, and Olly says the pair have what it takes to make the show a huge success.
Speaking to The Sun today, Olly said he was looking for inspiration from The X Factor host Dermot O'Leary and Konnie's predecessor Holly Willoughby, who fronted the show for 3 years.
While Olly said Konnie was "great" as a presenter, he added: "Caroline and I can bring a more personal touch and get to know the contestants really well like Dermot does."
He continued: "What makes Dermot so good on the main show is that he is so down to earth.
"Within a second you almost feel Dermot is one of your best mates. Hopefully that's what Caroline and I can bring to it.
"We are also going to be like their mates. I hope my experience of the show will rub off on the contestants and we'll get the best out of them."
Only Dermot and Louis Walsh from last year's line up remain, but Olly said he felt the change was for the better.
Olly told the newspaper today: "I always look at things like football teams. In any business you have to refresh. No one is bigger than the club.
"Simon was the founder and main judge. But it's nice to change. If anyone was going to replace Simon it had to be someone big in the industry, someone who has had huge success - and Gary Barlow fits the bill."
The Xtra Factor returns to ITV2 next month.
