X Factor 2008 winner Alexandra Burke won't release her second album this year, the singer has told fans. Alex, who split from Simon Cowell's Syco record label this year in a move to RCA Records, will however be releasing a new single later this month to radio.
According to music insiders, record execs are worried about the sales of the second album after Leona Lewis' follow up performed poorly in 2009. Instead Alex will take another year out while X Factor newbies Cher Lloyd, Matt Cardle, Rebecca Ferguson and One Direction release their debut records.
However Alex did confirm a single would be released to radio later next month, so fans need not worry about the singer from disappearing!
Previously speaking about the album, Alex said: "I’m going to get a lot fiercer and sexier. We’re just getting down and dirty with the next album. I’m going to take a lot more risks and it’s going to be insane.”
She added: "I have a special duet planned. I have the ideas, the collaborations in my mind – it’s all locked up in my head.”
