Host of The X Factor, Dermot O'Leary has said that his boss Simon Cowell never stops being frightening! The telly presenter, who is reportedly nervous about being axed from the series by the music mogul, added that the X Factor supremo was a rebel behind the scenes.
Dermot said: "He’s quick to tell you if you do something wrong. That never stops being frightening
"He loves the pantomime of TV. There’ve been times when I’ve thought: ‘Is he putting it on, or have I actually annoyed him?’ I’ll be panicking for the next hour," he added.
And it sounds as though the hunky host is having one of those panics this week, worried about being ditched after this series.
Dermot's new ITV1 show, which sees a panel of comics comment and debate trivial conflicts between couples, has slipped to less than 1.8 million viewers on Saturday nights - a mere tenth of the 20 million viewers that tune into The X Factor at the same time in the autumn.
"Dermot is feeling a bit nervous and panicky about the direction his career is taking. He’s have a complete confidence crisis,” a source said.
“He has The UK X Factor but he’s concerned Simon [Cowell] might drop him next year for someone younger,” the insider added to Star magazine.
And it wouldn't be the first time Simon's caused drama with the show's talent, having ditched previous host Kate Thronton in a very public sacking, as well as booting out Xtra Factor host Fearne Cotton in 2007.
"Simon is such a rebel," Dermot admits.
Do you want Dermot to be replaced on the show? Who do you want to host The X Factor?
