Joe McElderry has said that he thinks this year's show will miss the presence of Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue on the panel - but failed to mention Simon Cowell. Speaking to Newsbeat, Joe snubbed Cowell after he was dropped by the music mogul earlier this year.
Praising the new judging panel, which sees Gary Barlow, Kelly Rowland, Tulisa Contostavlos join Louis Walsh, Joe said the new panelists helped the reality series to become "really credible".
The 20-year-old, who won the series back in 2009, added: "I think Cheryl will be hugely missed, as is Dannii. But [the line-up] is fresh, it's going to totally change the dynamic of the show.
"It only gets bigger and better every year," he said.
However despite ignoring Simon, Joe said he had no regrets about taking part in the series. He explained: "I don't feel like I've got anything to be bitter about, I'm proud of what I've achieved - I would do it all again, I had an absolute blast.
"When you go into X Factor, and when you audition, you can't go into it expecting to be an overnight superstar. You've got to work and that's what I've been doing for the past couple of months and in the past couple of years.
"I don't expect to be an instant success with every single that I do," he said.
And despite being dropped, Joe was optimistic for his future. "I thought it was kind of the right time, as much as I was disappointed," he told the BBC. "I'm not really in a bad position for someone of 20 years of age, I've achieved quite a bit."
Joe, who won Popstar To Operastar earlier this month, is set to release his second album with new label Decca Records next month.
