X Factor hopeful Roger 'RoBo' Boyd dubbed "the new SuBo" after Liverpool audition

A 32-year-old singer has already been nicknamed "RoBo" and dubbed "the new SuBo" after performing for The X Factor judges in Liverpool last week. Roger Boyd wowed the panel with his performance of Meatloaf’s 'I'd Do Anything For Love' at the city's Echo Arena.

According to the Daily Mirror, Roger looked like "a nerdy rocker, dressed all in black with long blond hair". Telling the panel he was inspired by Britain's Got Talent star Susan Boyle to audition, Roger's near perfect audition had the crowds on their feet.

A show source told the newspaper: “Just like SuBo, Roger looked a bit geeky and not an obvious star when he walked on without much stage presence, but he launched into Meatloaf’s I’d Do Anything For Love and the crowd went wild.

“The judges had no hesitation in putting Roger through. If he gets to the finals he will be given a great makeover.”

Gary Barlow raved: “I absolutely loved it. That was great.” while Louis Walsh asked: “Why didn’t we come here before?”

Meanwhile new X Factor judges Tulisa Contostavlos and Gary Barlow have spoken about their stay in Liverpool last week.

Tulisa, who celebrated her 23rd birthday last Wednesday, said: "The producers and Dermot O’Leary took me out to a steakhouse in Liverpool [on Tuesday night] and they even got me a birthday cake.

"I love Liverpool, this and Manchester are my favourite places on tour, there’s a really good vibe."

Take That star Gary added: "Liverpool has always had the stars. The Beatles came from here. What more do you need to say!"

The hit reality series returns to ITV1 in August.
