Cheryl Cole is reportedly planning on making a return to The X Factor this year at the judges' houses and live shows. According to the Daily Star Sunday, show bosses want Cheryl to help out Tulisa Contostavlos picking her finalists.
The report comes despite claims this morning that show bosses were planning to get Tinie Tempah for this year's X Factor judges' houses on this year's show.
TV chiefs want the former X Factor judge back on this year's show in a bid to help keep ratings up.
An X Factor source told the newspaper this morning: “Producers are desperate to bring Cheryl back in some way or another. One option being discussed is for her to come back for the judges’ homes week.
“Theoretically, she could help out Gary Barlow or Tulisa because she is good friends with them both. But the general consensus is that Tulisa would be better.”
And Cheryl is also being lined up to return to the live shows as both a mentor and possible star for the duets in the final show.
“Cheryl has already been offered the chance to come back and mentor the contestants during the live rounds," the source continued. “There’s also talk she could perform with one of the contestants for the grand final.
“Cheryl basically has any option to return she wants, apart from as a judge. The theory behind helping Tulisa pick her contestants is that it would show the nation Cheryl isn’t bitter about Tulisa replacing her on the panel.”
