X Factor host Dermot O'Leary has reportedly been acting as a bodyguard for the show's new judge Tulisa Contostavlos. According to the Daily Star, Dermot has been protecting Tulisa from groups of rowdy 'chavs' trying to chat the N-Dubz star up!
“Dermot rushed to Tulisa’s aid after a group of boisterous chavs started trying to chat her up," an X Factor insider told the newspaper. “The lads were all getting a bit over-excited. Dermot was having none of it and told the over-eager male fans to ‘Chill out and calm down.’”
38-year-old Dermot O'Leary, who has been fronting the reality series for the past four years, told the boys: “I know Tulisa is a great-looking girl and I don’t blame you liking her but she doesn’t like people making a fuss.”
And it sounds as though Dermot and Tulisa have really hit it off on the show. “Tulisa’s a great judge and has fitted in so well, it’s such a good atmosphere," Dermot said. “She brings something new and exciting to the show, she is such a sweet girl. We get on great, she’s like a little sister.
“I look out for her as she’s the youngest judge we’ve ever had.”
Tulisa turned 23 on Wednesday as the auditions for this year's show came to a close in Liverpool, however X Factor bosses banned the judges from celebrating. A source said: “Unfortunately for them, bosses told everyone they’d need to have a low-key night and be back at the hotel at 11.30pm as they were up early for auditions the following morning.”
However from Tulisa told us she still had a bit of a late night. “It was my birthday yesterday so I’m a little rusty this morning,” she said on the last day of auditions on Thursday.
The X Factor 2011 returns in August.
