Axed X Factor judge Cheryl Cole could well be returning to the show later this year for the live shows, it has been claimed. The Girls Aloud star, who was given the boot from The X Factor USA last month, is reportedly set to make an appearance on the 2011 series as a 'fifth judge'.
According to The Mirror, Cole has been hanging out with new panel - made up of Gary Barlow, Kelly Rowland, Tulisa Contostavlos and Louis Walsh in preparation for her role.
“Tulisa’s having a big knees-up for her 23rd birthday at London’s Merah club on July 16, and all the X Factor judges, cast and crew will be in attendance. As will Cheryl," a source told the newspaper.
The insider revealed there was a "long-standing plan" for Cheryl to return to The X Factor after she snubbed a chance to sit back in her judges seat last month.
It is understood that Cheryl was seen by US bosses as “uncomfortable” on the American show, and was given an opportunity to bow out and return to the UK version. However Cole’s new greedy new management team wanted way more than ITV were prepared to pay, resulting in them instead hiring new judge Tulisa Contostavlos.
With the UK X Factor deal falling through, Cheryl was set to return back to her position on the US show, until however FOX decided to buy the Girls Aloud star out of her contract. The mess left Cheryl without a job on either show, although she did take away her £1.5 million fee for the American show despite filming just four shows.
Seeming to have changed her mind now, the source explained: "She mingles more with the current judges than she ever did before.
"There is a long-standing plan in place for Cheryl to return to the show in time for the live finals. There is a fifth guest judging role there – and Simon Cowell would love for her to take it.”
