Boy George slams The X Factor for only liking 'bland acts'

X Factor 2011

Former Culture Club frontman Boy George has slammed The X Factor today, criticsing the show for only liking 'bland acts'. Speaking to The Sun, he claimed that the ITV1 reality show would reject the likes of David Bowie if they auditioned for the music talent contest.

The 50-year-old moaned that the Simon Cowell seres was "dumbing down music"

George complained: "You have got the audiences dictating the art form which is dreadful. Imagine what would have happened to David Bowie if he'd gone on the X Factor.

"They would have said, 'Lose the cape, honey', and 'The ginger hair isn't going to work!'."

The 'Karma Chameleon' singer previously suggested however he'd love to join the show as a judge!

"I would be great but I'm not sure if they could handle me," he said back in February.

He added: "I'd do it but it depends how much they would pay me and if I could have Cheryl Cole's wardrobe budget."
