Former X Factor judge Cheryl Cole reportedly performed a "sexy lapdance" for ex-husband Ashley Cole in front of guests at her birthday party last night, as she revealed to pals she was happy to be out of the reality telly limelight. The Girls Aloud star was celebrating her 28th birthday party at a top London hotel, making her first public appearance since her X Factor axe.
She told a friend: “I’m the luckiest girl in the world. I’ve not been this happy for years.”
Guests at the party included Cole's Girls Aloud bandmates Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh, as well as Cole's replacement on The X Factor UK here, Tulisa Contostavlos. However it was Cheryl's ex-husband Ashley Cole's presence that most people seem to be interested in.
One guest told The Mirror: "She threw her arms around him and gave him a passionate snog right next to her mum Joan. They spent a minute embracing and all the guests couldn’t help but turn to look. There’s no doubt they’re back in love. At one point she went for a cigarette, came back in, marched up to Ashley and performed a sexy dance for him while he was sat down in front of her.
“Then she flashed a huge grin, sat on his lap and they started kissed and cuddling. They didn’t care who saw them. Everyone was surprised by such a public display of affection.”
The couple divorced last year following claims in the press that England football star Ashley had cheated on Cheryl with a string of woman. Earlier this year however, following Cole's axe from the US X Factor, it was claimed the pair had reconciled in private having had many "private dates".
But last month it was claimed that Simon Cowell had axed Cheryl from The X Factor USA because of her getting back with Ashley, a source said: “She was meant to be concentrating on the American X Factor. Simon warned her not to be seduced by ‘Happy ever after’ words from Ashley."
Hitting back, Cheryl blamed Simon Cowell for the pair originally splitting, saying she was “pressured” to divorce the Chelsea footballer in order to succeed in America. Ashley has also pinned the blame on Cowell, saying that the music mogul had “butted in” on their relationship.
At her birthday bash last night however there seemed to be no signs of tension between Cheryl and Ashley, with a witness explaining: "They’re a couple in love... no two ways about it. For most of the night Cheryl was on the dance floor while Ashley sat or stood nearby. He didn’t dance much.
“The only time they did dance together was to Rihanna’s What’s My Name. Cheryl constantly had her arm around him, whispered things in his ear, and then sat on his lap in the corner again."
Cheryl previously admitted she hadn't "let go" of Ashley, saying: “It’s not my past, it’s very much my present. We were meant for each other. I will always love him.”
And she said of a “Mrs C” tattoo still on her neck: “I have nothing to rub away.”
