Cheryl Cole is reportedly set to "jumpstart her career" and top "moping about The X Factor" this month, starting off by debuting a new look at her 28th Birthday party last night. According to those infamous 'sources', just friends and family were invited - including her X Factor replacement Tulisa Contostavlos and ex-husband Ashley Cole.

Cheryl took the chance to reveal her new shorter and blonder hair cut as she rocked a vintage white Stella McCartney dress to the event, at London’s Sanderson Hotel.

A family friend, probably feeling a little hung-over, told The Sun today: “Her moping about ‘The X Factor’ is over. She’s determined to jumpstart her career. She still has America in her sights.”

Despite rumours that Cheryl's ex-husband Ashley had been told to stay away, the Chelsea footballer was spotting sneaking into the exclusive bash in the back of a car before spening the even celebrating Cheryl's birthday.

Cheryl had blamed Simon Cowell for the pair originally splitting, saying she was “pressured” to divorce the Chelsea footballer in order to succeed in America. Ashley has also pinned the blame on Cowell, saying that the music mogul had “butted in” on their relationship.

New X Factor judge Tulisa Contostavlos was at the party with Cheryl giving the new girl advice on how to handle the show. Tulisa said: “Cheryl sent me some flowers on my first day, which was a pretty amazing gesture and totally unexpected. To be going through all that she is, well, that’s a very kind, thoughtful gesture.”

She continued: “Cheryl’s had a tough time and of course I feel bad for her. I was worried about being seen to be trying to fill Cheryl’s shoes, but I’m not. I’m just trying to being me.”

Others at the party included just two of Cheryl Cole's Girls Aloud band mates, with Sarah Harding and Nadine Coyle (unsurprisingly) stay away. Black Eyed Peas stars and Fergie also joined in, as well as Cole's mum and brother.
