Cheryl Cole has spoken for the first time about her axe from The X Factor, saying that she has the confidence to move on from the show. The Girls Aloud star however didn't say anything about what really went on behind the scenes - and was quiet on her views of Simon Cowell!
"So much of what happens to you in life is because you have the confidence to recover from knocks, a support network so that you can make the right decisions and information to help you move forward," Cheryl said as her replacement Nicole Scherzinger posed in Miami for the latest auditions.
With Cheryl's accent being blamed for getting her the sack, the Geordie singer insisted she would never have changed for the job.
"I’m very proud of my Geordie roots and think the north-east is an amazing part of the country, full of great people and talent," Cole said.
The 27-year-old is now focusing on her new charity, the Cheryl Cole Foundation. "It will start by helping vulnerable young people in the north-east," Cheryl says, "It feels right to be starting here, working to help people where I grew up. I wanted to try and help young disadvantaged people through my celebrity, if that was possible."
She added: "Who knows how different my life would have been if I hadn’t had the confidence and the support to enter a TV talent show?"
To help raise funds for the cause, Cheryl will be auctioning some of her most famous dresses as seen on The X Factor, including the one pictured, top left.
"In March, I was having a bit of a clear out and it struck me that some of my more recognisable clothes could be used to raise money," she said.
"I selected the outfits that I’ve been photographed in or have worn on TV, so I hope they sell well."
