While the talent was good at yesterday's Manchester auditions the crowd was certainly more rowdy than ever, with chants for Cheryl Cole's return and boos for her replacement, Tulisa Contostavlos. We can reveal that the 3,000 strong audience at Manchester's EventCity arena jeered the N-Dubz star after slamming some talented acts.
Seeming to try and be nasty for the sake of it, Tulisa told one hopeful that she had failed to connect with the audience, despite the crowd being right behind the auditionee.
And it wasn't just the audience putting the boot in, with Gary Barlow blasting: "I don’t know what you’re going on about, Tulisa."
Perhaps it was the early start or unusually hot weather for Manchester, but the restless continued to jeer the 22-year-old to the point that she was "close to tears" backstage, according to The Mirror.
There were also chants from the audience to bring back Cheryl, while some called for Simon Cowell's return.
Gary Barlow however got arguably a better reception than the X Factor boss himself, the new head judge - as appointed by new Xtra Factor hosts Olly Murs and Caroline Flack - received cheers and screams that could deafen when he entered the arena yesterday morning.
US singer Kelly Rowland was also proving a huge hit from the crowd, and seemed to take the pantomime booing on the chin. After being heckled when criticising one act, the former Destiny's Child star turned to the audience and shouted "Boo you!" to laughs from the crowd.
Take note, Tulisa.
Louis Walsh was also at the auditions in Manchester.
