An anonymous online blogger who cause controversy over the Britain’s Got Talent final has apparently admitted to making the whole thing up. Describing himself as a "loner" in a second blog, the trouble-maker said he was "ashamed" of the claims which he had published online.

The original posting had alleged that the show was fixed for Ronan after he was 'groomed' for stardom by Simon Cowell's Syco company for two years. It also made crude personal slurs about the 12-year-old, who was eventually named runner-up to Jai McDowall in last Saturday's final.

According to The Sun, a second post has a been alerted to Sony Music and the police. In it the writer reportedly claims to be "a loner with bipolar disorder", admitting they "made up the allegations after becoming obsessed by BGT".

The blogger is said to have written: "I am deeply ashamed.

"I would like to offer my sincerest apologies for the distress and hurt I've caused."

A spokeswoman for Britain's Got Talent confirmed it was aware of the blog and that it had been passed on to the relevant authorities.

Yesterday Ronan revealed that the blog had "really upset" him.
