It sounds as though Gary Barlow's shockingly harsh comments on this year's hopefuls haven't just taken the audience and contestants by surprise - even Xtra Factor host Caroline Flack and fellow judge Tulisa Contostavlos were taken aback to hear his views.
Some of his insults to wannabes have included suggesting one woman was born a man, and telling another auditionee they should've have left the house the way they had dressed.
Speaking at the Glamour awards earlier this week, Caroline Flack said: "Gary has been surprisingly brutal. He goes, 'I've worked in this business for 20 years. I don't want to see you in a pub or a club'."
Meanwhile fellow new X Factor judge Tulisa Contostavlos added: "He has two hands on the hips and is always grumbling. I was shocked."
It was previously reported that Gary had been told by producers to tone his comments down, but at Glasgow auditions earlier this week he was as harsh as ever!
The X Factor 2011 auditions continue on Sunday in Manchester.
