The X Factor 2011 auditions rolled into Scotland today as they headed to Glasgow's S.E.C.C arena on the second date of the audition tour. With Gary Barlow being told to be less harsh on the contestants and Tulisa revealing she'll be showing all sides of her personality, it looks like it'll be a good show.
Glasgow has given us a mixed bag of contestants in recent years, with highs including 2007 winner Leon Jackson, lows such as 2009 finalists Jedward and even a fair bit of controversy last year with Gamu Nhengu's still being talked about last month.
Despite the cold and wet whether the new judges seemed to be in high spirits as they arrived for today's auditions with Kelly Rowland giving her best Highland Fling as she exited her car. Wearing a notability short black dress however, Tulisa sensibly decided to instead just to have a little dance to the bagpipes.
With the rumbling from The X Factor's sister show over in the states still going on, the new UK judges were very upbeat as they greeted the crowds that had been queuing for hours in the rain.
Speaking about the auditions, new judge Gary Barlow said: "I think possibly because I’ve spent the last five years making albums I fancied taking the backseat for a while, helping others develop their careers.
"I think part of The X Factor, the bit that everyone loves, is the journey. Seeing people starting out on a day like today, going right through to the final, seeing how much they’ve improved."
After some initial hiccups in his first outing as an X Factor judge in Birmingham last week - including asking whether one female audition was born a man! - Gary revealed he was looking forward to seeing the latest batch of wannabes aiming to become the next Leona Lewis.
The singer-songwriter, who yesterday was performing with Take That in Manchester, added: "It’s all exciting, today is X Factor day. I’m very excited to get in there and see who comes through the doors."
N-Dubz star Tulisa added: "You’re going to see all kinds of elements from me, I’m going to bring everything from warm blood to pots of power and lots of female domination."
Now if someone could tell us just where Louis Walsh has got to...
There are only the two audition shows in Glasgow this year, one this afternoon and another in the evening. Check back later tonight for our report from inside the audition venue!
The X Factor auditions will continue in Manchester for three days from Sunday.
