Simon Cowell is set on launching an 11-year-old America's Got Talent star here in the UK in a bid to make her a worldwide star. Opera-style singer Jackie Evancho finished second in last year's America's Got Talent series, and will perform on tonight's Britain's Got Talent final.
"I'm always excited when we find a star through one of our shows," Simon Cowell told The Sun. "I have to congratulate the America's Got Talent team and I'm thrilled Jackie's making records for us. I think she is a total star." Jackie has already sold 1.5million albums in the US.
"I think people will love her," Cowell added. "I just wanted the UK to hear her voice and see the talent."
Meanwhile Jackie said: "I never really had a pop voice, but even if I had I'd have gone with classical. It's different from what many other children do and you're able to show emotion in classical."
Jackie's debut album will be released on June 6.
Tonight's final kicks off at 7PM and will see Michael Collings, Razy Gogonea, Jai McDowall, Steven Hall, Les Gibson, James Hoble, New Bounce, Jean Martyn, Ronan Parke and Paul Gbegbaje compete for the £100,000 prize and a spot on the Royal Variety Show.
New X Factor USA judge and former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger will also perform on the show, in what it set to be awkward encounter following the press fascination over Cheryl Cole's axing from the American show.
