Simon Cowell opened tonight's final live Britain's Got talent 2011 semi-final with a warning, saying he was going to expose the person behind allegations made against his Syco company and finalist Ronan Parke. Simon called the claims a 'deliberate smear campaign' against the 12-year-old.
The claims, which appeared on the internet in an anonymous posting two days ago, have spread over social networking websites and forums such as Twitter and Facebook.
A source told The Sun about the claims this morning: “These are cruel lies about a child pursuing his dream.”
The source added: “It is disgusting to be so cruel to a 12-year-old child. The hunt is on for this person.”
The anonymous blogger – who claimed to be a disgruntled executive at Sony Music, the owners of Simon Cowell’s Syco company – suggested that Ronan Parke had been managed by Cowell for almost two years.
“The welfare of our contestants is paramount. We will not tolerate bullying of any kind,” a spokesperson for the show said last night.
In a statement, Syco strongly denied the allegations, saying: “There is no truth in this story whatsoever.
“Ronan first came to Syco/Sony’s attention when he entered this year’s competition. Syco/Sony Music will not hesitate to take whatever legal action is appropriate.”
