Olly Murs "chuffed" to be working on The Xtra Factor alongside Caroline Flack

New Xtra Facor presenter Olly Murs has said that he "chuffed" to be working on the programme this year. The X Factor 2009 runner up will join forces with Caroline Flack for the show in a controversial decision after Matt Edmondson was dropped hours before signing a contract.

Olly and Caroline were confirmed as the new hosts of the show late last night, completing the line up for The X Factor 2011.

"In typical Simon Cowell fashion it was all very last minute," a source told The Sun. "He left it so late that on the call sheet the presenters were named as Jane and John Doe.

"Simon was keeping everyone in the dark, saying it was going to be a surprise. Well, he's not kidding. It's been the craziest week."

Olly said about his new role: "The X Factor is the show that put me where I am so I'm chuffed to be involved again, this time to work on it from the other side and see some new stars coming through."

Meanwhile Caroline added: "I'm a massive fan of the X Factor and can't wait to get started."

However the move has been met by much criticism, with hotly tipped host Matt Edmondson being dropped at the last minute. "Matt has been knocked for six. He thought the gig was his," a pal told the newspaper.

Olly and Caroline will be in Birmingham today for the first auditions.
