Britain's Got Talent presenters Ant and Dec have said that they expected to see Joe Oakley put through to the final on last night's first semi-final show. The 19-year-old biker, who first appeared in Sunday's audition show, was in the top 3 alongside Paul Gbegbaje and Ronan Parke.
Ronan topped the public vote and so was automatically through. The judges meanwhile had to decide between Paul and Joe, but with the votes split - David and Michael going for Joe and Simon and Amanda going for Paul - the decision went back to the original public vote. With the most votes, it was Paul that went through.
Speaking about the result however, Dec said: "I thought Joe would go through. Just because it was more dangerous and a bit more breathtaking. I think Paul is great, don't get me wrong but I thought Joe would have just shaded it. It just goes to show, you never can tell."
Chatting to Stephen Mulhern on ITV2's Britain's Got More Talent, Ant added: "I thought Joe was very, very good and I thought that Paul was [just] good. I agree with Simon's comments [about Paul] and I'd like to hear just one track. That kind of medley didn't really do it for me."
Paul and Ronan will go through to Saturday's final where they'll compete against 8 other acts from the rest of this week's semi finals.
New Bounce, Herbie Armstrong, Jean Martyn, Lorna Bliss, Enchantment, Two & A Half Men, David & Karen and Up & Over It all star in tonight’s show.
